While TV has been flat and radio and newspapers have seen double digit declines, people’s Internet usage has increased 117%, according to Forrester Research. And yet when you look at where marketing dollars are being spent, online still trails traditional media by a wide margin. Clearly online advertising is poised for continued growth and remains a great place for businesses to find new customers. Search engines
create millions of moments of relevance every day by connecting consumers who are looking for a product or service with the companies that offer those exact products or services.

While a search engine marketing (SEM) account can be created at the click of a few buttons, there are some key decisions that can make all the difference between giving up in frustration and achieving returns on your investment beyond your wildest dreams. With David’s decade of expertise, you’ve got a great guide that explains all the concepts of search marketing. It also provides tips and best practices from David’s own experiences that can add to the success of your online advertising campaigns.

I’m a frequent speaker at search marketing conferences worldwide, educating audiences of all experience levels in the art and science of SEM and Google AdWords. With new tools and reports being made available all the time, one of my main challenges is to help advertisers prioritize the myriad opportunities. My first job after grad school was working for a small magazine, book, and software company. As a programmer, it was my dream job; I was able to play with the innards of Apple II computers for most of the day, and for the rest of the day try my hand at every aspect of magazine publishing.
I found myself drawn to and fascinated by direct-mail marketing, which at that time was the primary way magazines acquired subscribers. I loved the creative aspect of it—the challenge of designing envelopes that begged to be opened, persuasive headlines that lured the reader into the letter copy, and forms designed so simply that they nearly filled themselves out.
I had studied nutritional science and flavor chemistry for nine long years of “higher education,” so the latent scientist in me loved the testing and optimization aspects of direct-mail marketing. The typical optimization sequence went like this:
Create what we felt was a winning mail package consisting of envelope, offer, and
reply form.
Do a test mailing to a small percentage of a rented mailing list.

Calculate the response rate and project the return on investment (ROI) we could expect from a mailing to the entire list.
Mail the control package to the majority of the list, and mail variations of the control to smaller portions of the list. Variations could include big ones such as envelope color and size, as well as smaller ones such as the number and positions of fields on the reply form.
Judge the winning package, and start again using the winner as the control.
The average time between step 1 and step 5 was an unimaginably long five to six months. It took that long for enough responses to be mailed back to us; to calculate and analyze the data (using the first spreadsheet software, VisiCalc, on Apple IIs); and to design and print the test and control packages.

BUM Marketing

Bum Marketing is one of the latest “crazes.” But there’s something that makes it different from the rest. Importantly different.

It’s based on the human element. It teaches you skills that you can use across the board of your online efforts. And while certain sites you’re using for promotion might shift in popularity, it’s relatively easy to find a new one.

Unlike the automated site generators, mass pinging, etc. Bum Marketing is based on the elements of business and SEO fundamentals. Things that won’t change with the next algorithm.

Bum Marketing has long term possibilities. If you’re willing to stick to the simple system of BM, then here are some ways to keep it organized, and ways to advance your personal BM system.

If you've ordered cable-modem or DSL service, a technician may come to your house to do all the necessary wiring and configuration for you. All you have to do is be home to let the technician in.

In some cases, however especially if you already have cable TV or phone service you may be offered a self-installation kit. As thanks for doing the cable person's job, a tasty discount is usually part of this arrangement.

If you opt for the self-installation route, your kit probably contains the modem itself, a software CD, an Ethernet or USB cable to connect to your computer, a splitter box to divide your incoming cable line into two, and paperwork containing account names, numbers, and passwords.

The company's setup instructions will probably direct you to unscrew the round coaxial cable that runs from the wall to the back of the cable box and attach the splitter. Then you use the additional cable provided to connect one side of the splitter to the cable box, and the other side to the back of the cable modem. Use the Ethernet or USB cable to connect the cable modem to the computer's network (Ethernet) or USB port.

After everything's all plugged in, the wrapup steps differ slightly depending on whether you're using Windows or a Macintosh.

Wrapping up the Windows setup
Dig the CD out of the box, put it in your computer, and run the setup program on it. You'll be asked to plug in the account information from the cable or DSL company: your new account name, password, and so on. Your provider should also supply the settings and information you need to set up your new email address; see Section 14.1.4.4 for instructions on how to configure an email account.

CDs that come with broadband kits are designed to take your hand and walk you through the setup process. If you've got a fistful of account settings, user names, and passwords from your providerand no fear of your computer's control panelsyou can also manually plug in your new connection settings. Choose Start Control Panel Network Connections and then choose "Create a new connection." Click "Connect to the Internet" and then click Next.

On the next screen, click the button for "Set up my connection manually." Click Next again.

The next box presents you with two choices for a broadband connection: one that requires a user name and password and one that's always on. In most cases these days, you use the "always on" option, but check the papers from your ISP.

If your connection is always on, click Next to finish up. If your ISP requires a name and password to use your connection (some DSL providers do), the next few screens walk you through typing in the user name and password.

Wrapping up the Mac OS X setup
Once the cable modem or DSL box is connected to your Mac's Ethernet jack, you should be able to get online immediately; no software installation is generally necessary.

The beauty of cable modems and DSL service is that they offer a geeky but wonderful feature called DHCP, which means, "I'll configure all the network settings for you." Open your Web browser and enjoy.

Sharing a Broadband Connection
You're paying good money each month for that speedy broadband connection. If you have more than one computer around the house in need of Internet access, you can share your DSL or cable connection with the other, less fortunate machines. You do this by setting up a home network.

A home network is like your own personal Internet: All the computers in your house can share files, use the same printer, and divide up the high-speed Internet connection so everyone in the house can surf on their own Macs or PCs.

To create a basic home network, you need to buy an inexpensive, compact metal or plastic box called a router. It offers one jack for your broadband modem and several others for network cables from all your computers. Once you plug in the modem and network cables between the router and each computer, the router divides your modem's pipeline among the connected computers so they can all be online at once.

That's all the setup you'll have to worry aboutclick Apply Now. If your settings are correct, you're online, now and forever. You never have to worry about connecting or disconnecting.

Getting Online

The Internet, as you may have heard, is a parallel universe. It's a travel agency, bank teller, music store, video player, radio station, and newspaper wire service, not to mention a bulletin board, chat room, post office, and global chess tournament. Or at least the Internet can be all that stuff if you can connect to it. That can be the tricky part.

The basic components you need for Internet fun include:

Internet service
Lots of stuff on the Internet's free, but getting to the Internet usually isn't. In fact, you have to sign up for an account with somebodyyour cable TV company, phone company, or an outfit like America Onlineto get your computer connected.

Equipment
Your computer may already have what it takes to get you online: a modem (if you want to get online via phone lines), an Ethernet jack (to connect by network wire), or a wireless card (to connect wire lessly). Details in a moment.

Internet software
If you're going to send email and browse the World Wide Web, you need special programs to do so. Luckily, your computer came with these programs already on the hard drive.

Broadband connections. These are high-speed, extremely satisfying connections that are growing in popularitybut they're fairly expensive.

Dial-up connections. Your computer can also connect to the Internet by dialing out over ordinary phone lines. It's slow, but cheap.

Wireless connections. Pure heaven. Might even be free, if you're in the right place.

UP TO SPEED
The Most Essential Piece of Gear
You'll need some equipment to get to the Internet, of course; you've probably heard of modems, cable modems, and DSL.

But before you can even consider getting yourself that sort or gear, you need a computer.

Computers are a lot cheaper than they used to be; you can buy a new laptop these days for around $500. In general, the newer the computer, the easier it's probably going to be to get it connected to the Internet. That's because fresh new operating systems like Windows XP and Mac OS X have built-in helper software designed to quickly guide your computer online.

But what if you already have a perfectly good four-or five-year-old model that works just fine for word processing or playing solitaire?

Truth is, an old Mac or PC may not let you see all that the Web has to offer.

That's because Apple and Microsoft stop updating their software when they move on to newer versions. So Web browsersand the software that lets them display video, animations, and other visual goodiesmay be out-of-date and incapable of showing you everything that's online.

If you have an older computer that has enough memory and hard drive space to meet the system requirements of Windows XP or Mac OS X, though, you can upgrade the old box with a new system and still see the best of the Web without buying a whole new machine.

Broadband Connections

A broadband connection delivers songs, videos, and digital photos to your computer in minutes instead of hours. We're talking at least 20 times faster than a dial-up modem. Complex Web pages that take almost a minute to appear in your browser with a standard modem will pop up almost immediately with a cable modem or DSL.

And that's not the only reason about half of all Internetters have signed up for broadband service. Here are some of the other perks:

No dialing. These connection methods hook you up to the Internet permanently, full time, so that you don't waste time connecting or disconnectingever. You're always online. There's no 40-second wait while your modem screeches and dials.

No weekends lost to setup. You can set up the equipment yourself to save a few bucks. But most people take the easy road: they allow a representative from the phone company or cable company to come to their home or office to install the modem and configure the Mac or PC to use it.

Possible savings. Cable modems and DSL services cost $30 to $40 a month. If you, a dial-up customer, have been paying for two phone lines just so you can talk and be online at the same time, you'll actually save money with broadband because you can cancel the second phone line.

Broadband connections usually come in the form of a cable modem or DSL box (digital subscriber line). (In some remote areas, you can also get broadband satellite service. But this method is slow, expensive, and rare in residential areas.)

As the name suggests, a cable modem uses your cable-TV company's network of wires to pipe data into your house, right alongside Comedy Central and HBO. DSL, on the other hand, uses your existing telephone lines to carry its signal. You usually sign up for DSL service through your phone company.

Broadband connections generally require a computer with an Ethernet jack.It looks like a telephone jack, but slightly fatter. This jack's an indication that your computer contains a network card, used for creating a wired connection to a home network, office network, cable modem, or DSL box. Most computers sold since about 2001 have such a jack.

If your computer doesn't have a network card, you can add one, as an internal card that you install inside; a metal, credit card-size card that fits into a laptop card slot; or an external box that dangles from the computer's USB connector.

RSS and Blogs

Email broadcasts to opt-in clients are barely reaching targeted audiences anymore. Aggressive spam filters are blocking legitimate emails sent by companies and are costing businesses’ Billions in lost revenue each and every year.

According to Double Click, an advertising and email delivery company, reports in their Q3 2004 Email Trend Report, that the average email deliver rate (emails sent minus the combined hard and soft bounce-back rate, but not counting the e-mail messages, blocked by various filters without bouncing the message) grew slightly to 89.3%, while the average open rate is only 34.3%. The average click through rate is 8.3% and the click-to-purchase conversion rate grew to 4.2%.

It’s difficult and frustrating enough to convert members into buyers, but with the blockage by spam and email filters, legitimate companies worldwide with client and prospect lists are losing tremendous revenue every year. Businesses are crippled because only 20% to 50% of their content communication is reached. Definitions:

Organization and Preperation

Organizing yourself should always be the first thing you do. I love organizing my goals, my clothes, everything. If you aren’t organized things that should take an hour end up not getting done at all sometimes. When I wrote this eBook, I wrote a chapter a day until I was finished.

A lot of people make New Years Resolutions. And then they don’t stick to them. I’m one of those people, so earlier this year I devised a plan on how I’m going to be able to stick to my goals. I call this wonderful plan the 7-Day Plan.

A lot us MMO (Make Money Online) people like to set goals, deadlines, and what not. Some people set realistic goals (which I believe fully in) and some people set ridiculous goals (ridiculous). I believe in setting realistic incremental goals.

You crawl before you walk - You stretch before you run.

How the 7-Day Plan works

You go to Walgreens, get a notebook (I like the small 5-Star Ones). If you’re a PC person, open up a word document.
Title the document or notebook paper for example - Dec 7th-Dec 14th
Write down all your goals that you believe you can accomplish within those 7 Days
Every morning look at the goals, choose one, and get it done.
Every night look at your goal list, and cross out the ones you completed.
Try and finish all your goals that you set in 7 days, then turn the page.
Repeat from step #2.

The 7-Day Plan isn’t only effective in Internet Marketing/Make Money Online, but effective in all walks of life. Take your wife out to dinner, plan it, and complete it! Take out the trash, plan it, and complete it. Whatever it is, write it down, and get it done. And I’ll tell you what; you’d be surprised how much you can do in only 7 Days.

Getting Started with Adsense

Before getting started with Google Adsense I scoured the internet for all the information and tools to give me a head start. I didn’t want to try and test things all the time. I read about what other people tried and tested, what works and what doesn’t. This helped me a lot when I decided on how I was going to approach choosing what niche to blog in and how to run my ads.

Choosing a Niche
When I first started Blogging, I would just blog about anything I wanted. I thought if I wrote about something interesting everyday, people would come in flocks to my blog and I’d be getting more traffic than New York City at rush hour. Let’s just say, it didn’t work out.

It’s important that you choose a niche! Not just any niche but one that interests you, and most importantly, one that interests others. You should ask yourself these questions listed below before you decide what you want your topic to be on.

Are you interested?
I can’t stress the importance of being interested in the topic you’re writing on enough. The difference between working for someone else at a job you may not like is – the money is guaranteed. It takes hard work to get a blog up to the level that it’s bringing in a good income. A lot of people can’t bring themselves to get up everyday and write a new article or post about a topic they just aren’t interested in. So make sure you’re interested in what you write about – you’ll realize that the rewards may not only be monetary.

Popularity Contest!?
It’s important that topic that you’ll be taking on is popular. Not only if it’s popular, but if its popularity is growing! You don’t want to take on a topic that’s losing interest everyday. For example – writing about McCain and Palin now would not yield as many as it would have writing about them pre-election. Take your time and choose a topic that you think will be hot within the next few months. It may take a little research, but being the best in one event is better than being 2nd place in many.

Competition, where?
Many bloggers end up causing their own demise by choosing a niche that has been done before, done again, killed, resurrected, and is still being done today. Remember, the internet is a big place, if you’ve thought of it, theres a 99% chance that someone may have thought of it before you. Do your research. Make sure you know it’s worth delving into before you’re already 2 feet deep.

Find a smaller niche and become the authority. Rather than being mediocre in a saturated niche.

What aren’t they doing?
I had this one guy who ranked above me in the search engine for a major keyword. What ticked me off is that his content wasn’t that great. A week later I took the first two spots on the search engine thanks to increasing the amount of content on my site. He was neglecting his audience. I was feeding them with fresh content daily.

Find out what your competition isn’t talking about. For example – your competition might have a blog about iPhone rumors and updates. You could make your blog about iPhone applications and accessories. Just an example but I’m trying to show you the way to look at things.

Think of a niche within a niche.

Is there enough to go around?
Not food, but content. You need to make sue you aren’t going to run out of content after one or two posts. Make sure the topic you choose has an abundance of content that you can dive into or maybe something you already know about. Replenishing your site with fresh content not only keeps readers happy but it helps boost you up in the search engines.
Places like Google, Ezinearticles, and just the internet as a whole should be able to provide you with enough content to keep the blog running for ages. Just don’t overdo your posts – save some for tomorrow if you know what I mean? One topic at a time is perfect; this will also come in handy in the future.

If all else fails your can always rewrite PLR but I don’t recommend it.

The best and most successful niche sites (when it comes to Adsense) are definitely sites that attract beginners. If you have a question who do you ask normally? Google. Answer peoples questions - Teach them How To Ride a Bike or How To Cook Baked Beans?

When we’re new to something – we ask a lot of questions and seek a lot of information. Google answers those questions. Desiring instant gratification is something that we are all sometimes guilty of – if the right Ad pops up and it’s answering my question you’re damn right I’m going to click it.

Subdomain Strategies

Subdomains with keywords are easier to read and common sense tells you they draw more clicks.

Subdomains are treated as separate URLs by the search engines.

Subdomains can have their very own unique IP address.

Subdomains allow you to create a lot (think hundreds) of sites on one domain without the expense of purchasing hundreds of domain names.

You can get any keywords you want for your subdomain name which all the good dictionary keywords are basically gone.

Linking strategies allow you to move page rank into subdomains without draining it from your overall site.

So, subdomains is a great advantage to the smart marketer.

Subdomain Success Strategy #1 - Putting a WordPress Blog in Your Subdomains

Overview:

• Setup a domain with the shortest possible URL.
• Build it out with highly targeted keyword subdomains.
• Install WordPress Blogs on each subdomain.
• Configure each blog for maximum profits.
• Feed “smart automated” content to the blog.
• Link to each subdomain from the home page.
• Link to the home page from the blog.
• Link to high PR blogs and get automatic trackback links.
• Add a few new blogs each week.
• Use a tracking software to identify profitable markets.
• Flip the home page of these blogs to a name squeeze or affiliate offer.
• Cash the checks!

Setup a domain with the shortest possible URL

Since you will be adding keywords to the front of it, choose the shortest possible URL in order to keep your domain address length manageable.

Since you want the keywords read – you can be well served to choose a nonsensical domain name of words and numbers that is really short.

Build it out with highly targeted keyword subdomains

There are two ways to do this.

1. Use themed relates keywords.
2. Use tons of random topics.

Install WordPress Blogs on Each Subdomain

The best and brightest content management system in the world today is WordPress. A blog automatically lends itself to new, fresh, content (the favorite food of search engine spiders) and with it’s “ping” feature for announcing it’s new content – it is a fabulous target for search engines today.

The WordPress blog is also a free feature of Fantastico – usually a free inclusion with most good hosting companies – so it falls into the category of a tool that is easily accessible to non-marketers.

Configure Each Blog For Maximum Profits

Whether you slap adsense or affiliate offers on your blog – you must go in and configure you blog. While this is a bit time consuming, it is well worth it to change the permalinks setup, linking, sidebar, the ping list, and other areas.

Feed “Smart Automated” Content To The Blog

By smart posting, I mean you would be smart to create and set your own original content to post or public domain content – while the worst content to post is search results.

Link To Each Subdomain From The Home Page

Search engines give extra marks for the home page of a website – and even the newest of the newbies soon learn that they can delete the text after the .com in their address bar and find the
root of a site.

We are all accustomed to finding most of the main navigation on this page, so it is a terrific place to put attractive keyword-based links to places your want your visitors to go.

By mapping out all your links in advance, you can plan an overall strategy for monetizing your site, and when you go to “clone” this home blog with all of it’s settings in place – you will already have your total navigation in each one.

Finally, when optimizing for Google, you are distributing the overall page rank of the home page of the site – down into the homepage of the subdomains.

Linking into the subs of your site will help crawlers from the search engines to more quickly discover your subdomains and give the Google Media Bot – the search engine spider who’s job it is to decide what kind of ads to show - a clear indication of what the subdomain is about – so they can serve more targeted ads.

In fact, the words in the anchor text of YOUR link plus the keywords you use in your domain are a powerful way of drawing the right kinds of ads right from the start. First impressions do count!

Link To The Home Page From The Blog

An often overlooked factor in SEO is that each page on your site that links back into the site itself has the potential to give a boost to the page it links to. So, if you have a site with, say, 100 pages, and they all have a link back to the home page – this can help give a boost to that home page. The reason I say “can” is that each page that makes it into the Google index carries a bit of page rank power that it has the ability to bestow on any other page it links to.

Now on a new site – with few or no links to these sub-pages, you won’t have life changing amounts of page rank power to begin with. Still, it does count, and with the proper keywords in the anchor text, it gives a decided boost to that page – which benefits the overall value
of the whole site.

But, if you make the colossal blunder of putting Home in the anchor text that links back to your “home page,” you have pretty much wasted that value from a search engine standpoint.

Unless your site IS about homes, you should use the keywords in the link that you want the search engines to know your home page is truly about. One way to do this is to use Keywords Home instead of just home.

As you go about your Tag and Ping way, and put links into these subdomains, your pages will gather Page Rank Power, which can be bestowed on the home page, or sitemap of your site.

Preserving page rank – is an SEO term/strategy about strategically linking to other pages within your site

Link to high PR blogs and get automatic trackback links

While linking a regular website to high PR authority sites is useless to bad, linking to high PR blogs can be extremely powerful.

Another advantage of the Word Press Blog is that they are set out of the box to give a trackback link to blogs that link to them. Most power blogs are set this way too – as a natural blog linking
strategy.

Simply pop a link to the blog in your blogroll – after changing the name of the blogroll to something more keyword friendly – to a high PR blog on your topic – and soon you may well see an inbound link from them automatically!

If you want to up the odds of getting a good link from a managed blog, find an interesting post that is relevant to your topic and make a post about it to your blog manually with a link back to the permalink page of the high PR blog.

Shoot an email or comment to the other blog owner and they will likely reciprocate and link back to you. In almost all cases the value of the link you get is worth more than the one you give up.

Use tracking software to identify profitable markets

The very best tracking software for AdSense publishers is Google Analytics. It will give you a ton of data by telling you what keywords users typed in to get to your page, what ads they
clicked on, what the colors were and more.

Using this information you can quickly identify profitable markets that you are already getting traffic for. You can add affiliate opportunities to the page, or further optimize the site for profits.

What is Cloaking

There are 2 types of cloaking and only one works reliably: IP Delivery. The gist of it is this: your site is able to tell the difference between search engine spiders and human visitors.

When a search engine spider comes along, the site shows hundreds or even thousands of juicy content rich pages, also referred to as spider food. Google, Yahoo and company then proceed to index these pages, which will eventually rank for the terms you selected when you created them.

From then on, human visitors will click on links to your pages in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages). The site now recognizes a human visitor and rather than serving up the content rich page, it serves the page of your choice.

Many content generators, come with affiliate data feeds included in the code. You just need to enter your affiliate code and you’re ready to go. The datafeed is less complicated than it sounds. All it really does is make ads for products appear on your site. These ads have your account ID in them and when a purchase is made, you get paid a commission.

Other programs allow you to integrate a Clickbank data feed into your pages, meaning the site will make links or ad boxes displaying Clickbank products relevant to the content of your pages. These links contain your affiliate ID so when a sale is made, you get paid.

One of the most overlooked aspects of becoming successful is building your list of loyal customers. Having a list of good buyers and cultivating those relationships is crucial because it creates a recurring revenue stream. Recurring revenue is crucial, as one-off site sales may be inconsistent until you have a large and high quality client base.

Think of it this way - if a site gets built up to making $5 per day in advertising, affiliate or even ecommerce revenue that is a $150 paycheque per month. Now since we are planning long term and by this point you are experienced in website building we can aim for one of these sites per 6-8 weeks.

Starting off is the toughest part but I guarantee you the rewards are tremendous.After the first few hurdles you’ve got a few sites making a modest income the path to success really accelerates. Soon instead of $5/day we are talking about $20/day sites and instead of one per 6-8 weeks it can get down to one site per 2-4 weeks.

Website flipping provides for some amazing income and good cash flow but I am telling you successful website ownership is the ultimate reward. Personally, I spend about 90% of my time on recurring revenue sources and probably less than 10% on “one time” sales. At this point I am in excess of $1,000 per DAY. I must be honest with you - to get to this point took a lot of work and quite some time. Getting over $100/day took the longest, after that I realized growth at a continually faster pace. Of course, the ability to start this in the first place came from one-time sales (selling sites and such.) The non-recurring sources of income allowed me to start building up my month-to-month, day-to-day revenue.

So aside from actually selling your site to someone else how do you generate money? Here are some of the most popular ways.

Google Adsense is by far the most popular way to earn money from advertisements on your site. Personally, for ads, I think it is the best program. Adsense shows both text and image ads which pay you for every click they receive on your site.

Very similar to Adsense is Yahoo’s Publisher Network (YPN.) This program is US only while in Beta (has been for years) and does not target the ads as well as Adsense. For high paying topics like travel, weight loss, legal, insurance, etc YPN can outperform Adsense. I do not qualify for this myself (not American.)

Affiliate links can work very well for highly targeted websites where you know there is a good chance your visitors are going to want to buy the products you suggest. Popular affiliate networks and programs are CJ.com (thousands of different merchants,) eBay and Amazon. They usually pay you a percent of each sale or sometimes a flat fee per action ($x per new user sent to eBay.) Azoogle Ads has made me a fair amount of money as well. They have hundreds of sites to promote but do not pay a % of a sale, instead if it a flat rate for free trials or paying customers to their clients.

Banner ad networks are usually best used on very high traffic sites but where the traffic is of a lower quality. This includes video game websites, sporting websites and social network type traffic. Casale.com, CPXInteractive and ValueClick. They will pay you for every thousand times a banner is shown on your site. Often the pay is 50 cents to $5 per thousand views - which is why I recommend against this unless your traffic is huge in volume and not making money through other options.

Last but not least: you may consider selling a product or service on your site. The best way to find out if this will be a success or not is to engage your users and ask them what they would like to see on your site and if they would considering purchasing a relavent product or service from you. If there are multiple requests in the same area I would strongly consider trying out the ecommerce angle.

Remember this path is not the easiest and does not favour those who give up quickly. If you stick with it, learn from mistakes, keep and open mind and take in as much knowledge as you can from the right people you can achieve this.

Create a website, build traffic, earn money from the traffic AKA “monetize,” continue building that perpetual income. Use the cash you make from website flipping to catapult your journey into building an empire of recurring revenue websites.

An important success factor is discipline. I'm not referring to the army, where actions
imposed on you need to be carried out due to your position in hierarchy. Discipline is a condition
we form ourselves to act upon. An example is needing to get to work for 9am every morning,
otherwise several late incidents could cost you your job. You have to discipline yourself to get up
on time and get to work on time. Discipline yourself to work on getting traffic to your website, as
with this, you won't lose your sleep over it.
We as individuals sometimes become our own worst enemies. We become toxic with our life and
fed up with not getting any traffic. Just think... how hard is it to get 1 visitor?
You can keep saying, 'yeah, I'll do it tomorrow'. But think about it, does that tomorrow ever come.
How many times have things or activities passed by you that never get done, just by you saying
'I'll do it tomorrow'.
I overheard a conversation once about my website from people who saw me grafting away in the
beginning when I first started out. Things like… he must be getting good traffic to his website as
he’s on page 1. And the response I heard was… ‘well obviously, he’s been working on it!’
So you need to work on it. Have you posted that first email to your list of contacts yet, if NOT …

What you also need to do is alter your habit-condition mind to believe that you are capable of

Remember you don't need anything prior to this. I have over-delivered to ensure, if you are a
novice, you will get that traffic and make money!
You must remain motivated and challenged all the time. It's your choice, you are the one in the
driver seat. You'll probably read materials where they promise you a whole kitchen, but you are
only given a sandwich out of the fridge. I'm giving YOU the whole kitchen, the cooker, fridge,
cutlery, toaster, blender and… the sandwich.

Making Goals
I bet by now your thinking … get the hell on with it. ‘Show me how to get the traffic’, but trust me,
I’ve been in your shoes. You need to stay on track…
As I was saying… You need to make goals as they will direct you towards them. It gives you
something to aim for, if you don't, you'll be on a ship without a map. Set attainable goals and
achieve them. You can set absurd goals if you like, because these are your goals to see and for
nobody else's attention. I must emphasise the importance of writing down goals, it helps
exponentially.
Example of a goal - I'm going to be better than my competitors within a month.
Let's take a look at another example first. This is a classic, so I’ve included it…
If you were told to eat an elephant, you would think 'hell, no!', or 'impossible'. What you have
done is pictured the whole elephant as an impossible task, which is true, it looks impossible. Now
you are on a mission impossible. Break down the task into operational goals.
Eat 1/30 of the elephant over a period of 30 days, everyday. Now has the impossible task become
easily attainable and possible??? Course it has!
This does not mean you have to eat an elephant, it's just an example of an absurd size or volume.
If you come across a huge volume or size of a goal, break it down into a daily, weekly and monthly operational tasks. That's how people become successful, breaking the impossible into possible.
Let me tell you about a real life example as I wrote this post. I contemplating on entering another industry and have done some keyword research. I have over 1,500,000 keywords!!! Your first reaction would be … what the hell? Or what the hell am I going to do with them? More practically, that’s 1.5 million pages effectively. The task at hand is substantial like the elephant example but I’m breaking it down so that it becomes feasible.
The task will be broken down into months, weeks and days so that it’s possible.

Anyway, it's easy if you know how. That's the secret every successful person or company uses.
They break down the goal into tasks. Now your aim is how to out compete your competition. Plan it and you will have a solution. Here's some help.
Your competitor has number one position for most of it's industry. Now break that down into
operational goals.

Choose the industry's top 50 keywords.
Create a page a day, making it 50 days.
Upload a page a day, with the keyword optimized, properly.
Strategically submit the pages each completion day.
Let the search engines do their trick.
Mission accomplished.

Now let's face some facts here. When I first mentioned to beat your competition, you probably felt that it was not only difficult, but absurd. True? Now the only thing I have done is broken down the main goal into operational daily tasks. That's what setting goals is all about, setting absurd goals and then putting them into an operational feasible strategy.

Look at it in terms of being an employee for a company. You are going to be paid $19,000
annually, instantly you think that's a lot of money. But the services you render for $350 a week
before taxes, in effect makes the company 10 or 20 times more productive for you being in that
position. You are employed to work and produce greater turnover for the company. The company sees that $19,000 wages cut from its turnover, but in effect has increased its profitability to an extra $150,000. Therefore they make a greater profit of $131,000 just by looking at the overall goal.
Therefore understand, set goals, break them down and achieve them. And by the way, just in case you're curious, what did 'luck' or 'fate' had to do with planning to increase the turnover? It's a decision that was acted upon. I can say one thing for sure, which has never let me down. Contributing to my success was a diary.
A simple, page-a-day diary that included my daily tasks. Which I discipline myself to finish before I hit the sack.
Purchase a diary or even a PDA gadget and note what you need to do each and everyday. Plan
what you need to do the next day and carry out the tasks. It helps to write things down, because if a thought comes to your head, you'll probably remember it, but a couple of days later, it vaguely is ever remembered. So write down what you need to do and plan your time around your daily chores. You'll be surprised how many hours a day or a week you can spare.
Did you know that an average of 20 hours a week are wasted watching pointless TV? Not
mentioning flicking through the 100 channels!!!
You are going to be the captain of your ship, where it goes is in your hands and upon your
decisions. The choice is yours. If you stick to the plan, you will route towards success. You have a refined plan and you only need to use your resources effectively to prosper.

You need to develop a burning desire to succeed. By this I mean, do you really want to
beat your competition? Do you really want to be the best in your industry? Is it really that
important for you to do that? Or would it just be nice to do that?
For example, having a desire to educate yourself to the best standards in order to land your dream job. You plan and adjust yourself over the years to make sure that you achieve your goal. This is a burning desire as compared to, it would be nice to have that job. You work on it.
You probably miss your favourite programme or miss a Saturday night with the lads/gals to
achieve this. You want it so badly that other things that come in the way can wait, WILL wait.
The same principle applies for traffic generation and websites. Build the foundations and you
will reap exponential benefits later.

If you believe you can do it, then you can, but if you feel you can't do it, then you'll never know, as you haven't tried it. Logically thinking, if you try it and succeed, you'll never look back, but if you don't try it, you'll never know.
